The third race of the AIB DBSC Turkey Shoot Series for cruisers and one-design keelboats set for Sunday, 23 November, has been cancelled as high winds move across Dublin Bay.
Organiser Fintan Cairns said, “all forecasts today are predicting high winds around our sailing times”, prompting the decision to halt the race.
Westerly winds are expected to gust to 50 mph by noon.
He added the call was made “to save crews coming to Dun Laoghaire”, with racing due to resume next Sunday.
The cancellation follows an earlier decision by the DMYC to pull its Viking Marine Frostbite dinghy racing. Race Officer Cormac Bradley said there was “no sign of the weather forecast improving”.
As Afloat reported earlier, leading the Turkey Shoot Series overall into the halfway stage is the SB20 Venuesworld.com
