The AIB DBSC Turkey Shoot has reached 70 entries for its second race on Dublin Bay on Sunday, 8 November. The latest addition is a Beneteau First 36.7 recently bought by Graham Barker and Christian Kraft.
Series organiser Fintan Cairns said he was pleased to see so many new faces in the fleet this year, including crews on several adult sail training boats.
A north-westerly breeze of 10–13 knots gave the fleet ideal conditions for last Sunday’s opener, which took the boats around the Muglins. Brendan Foley’s Impala 28 Running Wild took the win on corrected time, ahead of Bangarang and Mo. The full results are available with Afloat’s opening-race report.
Afloat’s pre-race fleet preview reported 65 entries before the opener. As outlined when entries opened in October, the seven-race series runs on Sunday mornings through 13 December.
The pre-race forecast pointed to sunshine and much lighter winds for Sunday. A west-north-westerly of around four knots at 9am was forecast to ease to under two knots from the west by noon, with temperatures rising from 6°C to 9°C. The DBSC notice of race lists the first gun at 10.10am.
