The organiser of the biennial National Yacht Club Volvo D2D on 11th June, Adam Winkelmann of Dun Laoghaire, reminds would-be entrants that the early bird entries offer closes this Friday, 4th April.
They've already got 22 paid-up teams, and know that they'll have the usual 35-40 on the line. But they'd particularly like to hear confirmation from the two-handed crews who have expressed interest, as Cian McCarthy and Sam Hunt of Kinsale put in a prodigious two-up performance with the Sunfast 3300 Cinnamon Girl last time round.
Overall winner Ron O'Hanley's Cookson 50 Privateer is already signed up to contest the Admiral's Cup in the Solent and around the Fastnet this summer as part of the Royal Irish YC team and is likely to be focussed elsewhere. But with new girls on the block and raring to go, such as Mike & Richie Evans' J112e from Howth, there's fresh interest for the always fascinating dash to Dingle.
