Containership Giant CMA CGM And Crews Take Part in Filming New James Bond Movie!

The Next Bond Movie where above a helicopter films one of the action sequences at the container terminal in Kingstown, Jamaica which involved Eon Productions in partnership with French container giant CMA CGM. AFLOAT adds the operator's Irish division, CMA CGM Shipping (Ireland) Ltd has offices located in Dublin and Cork from where 'feeder' vessels serve these ports connecting to Europe and beyond.

One of the World's largest container ship operators, CMA CGM in record time deployed a dedicated team for what promises to be one of the great films of 2020, the next James Bond film 'No Time To Die'.

The French owned shipping transport Group put its expertise, responsiveness and rigor to the benefit of the production of the Bond film which involved two ships and use of a container terminal in Kingston, Jamaica.

According to CMA CGM this was the first time in the history of the Group to mobilize ships for the production of the blockbuster. This involved CMA CGM Fort Saint Georges (2,260 TEU) and the larger capacity CMA CGM Fort de France (3,504 TEU).

A dozen sailors from CMA CGM Fort Saint Georges and their Captain also took part, and nearly 1,000 containers were included in the shoot.

For the fifth time, Daniel Craig will play Agent 007, this time under the direction of Cary Joji Fukunaga, winner of the Emmy Awards for the first season of True Detective.

No Time To Die will be released globally from 2 April, 2020 in the U.K. through Universal Pictures International and in the U.S on 10 April, from Metro Goldwyn Mayer Studios via their United Artists Releasing banner.

Esailing & Virtual Sailing information

The concept of e-sailing, or virtual sailing, is based on a computer game sailing challenge that has been around for more than a decade.

The research and development of software over this time means its popularity has taken off to the extent that it has now become a part of the sailing seascape and now allows people to take an 'active part' in some of the most famous regattas across the world such as the Vendée Globe, Route du Rhum, Sydney Hobart, Volvo Ocean Race, America’s Cup and some Olympic venues too, all from the comfort of their armchair.

The most popular model is the 'eSailing World Championship'. It is an annual esports competition, first held in 2018 and officially recognised by World Sailing, the sports governing body.

The eSailing World Championship is a yearly competition for virtual sailors competing on the Virtual Regatta Inshore game.

The contract to run the event was given to a private company, Virtual Regatta that had amassed tens of thousands of sailors playing offshore sailing routing game following major offshore races in real-time.

In April 2020, the company says on its website that it has 35,000 active players and 500,000 regattas sailed.

Virtual Regatta started in 2010 as a small team of passionate designers, engineers, and entrepreneurs gathered around the idea that virtual sailing sports games can mix with real races and real skippers.
