After its inaugural success in 2024, the Irish Sailing League returns for 2025 on the 10th and 11th of May.

With Sam Hunt at the helm, Kinsale Yacht Club emerged as the top sailing club in Ireland after two days of competition on Dublin Bay.

As regular Afloat readers will recall the 2024 event attracted ten teams from around Ireland for the J80 competition.

For the first time in any sailing event in Ireland, the event used robotic marks for the staging of up to 20 races per day.

Each club must nominate a crew. The maximum crew number is 4, all members of the same club, and one crew must be female. The crew number and lineup cannot be changed later than seven days before the first race without a points penalty.

Now is your chance to put your team together and challenge the other clubs to be crowned the 'best sailing club of Ireland'.

The event will be held in Dun Laoghaire, but the exact location has yet to be confirmed. According to Irish National Sailing School organisers, notice of the Race and Entries will be open in the coming days.

About the Irish Sailing League

The inaugural Irish Sailing League 2023, under the control of Kenneth Rumball, will be sailed over three weekends, in late June and early July, in Dun Laoghaire, and the plan is to race in Scotsman’s Bay vicinity.

In the first instance, each club is limited to one entry, but this may be increased based on the number of clubs wishing to participate. Worth noting, too, that in future years the plan would be to extend the event to include regional rounds in North, South, East and West.

Each Club must nominate a crew. The maximum crew number is 4, all members of the same club, and one crew must be female. The crew number and lineup cannot be changed later than seven days before the first race without a points penalty.
