John and Suzie Murphy's J109 Outrajeous was the top performer – by a distance – in the IRC division of the Northern Trust J Cup, sailed at the Royal Irish Yacht Club on Dublin Bay.
Having taken an overnight lead on Saturday with a two-point margin, they dominated racing on Sunday with three more wins to finish on five points. It was nine points clear of Howth clubmates, Michael and Richard Evans, on the J99 Snapshot, who were second with 14 points. Third was the Welsh J122 Mojito, skippered by Peter Dunlop, on 16 points.
As regular Afloat readers know, the Murphys walked away with the ICRA boat of the regatta last weekend by their IRC One performance, and this weekend was no different. They also won the overall J Cup prize.
The Outrajeous crew opted to enter the IRC Division, (and not the J109 Europeans), because, as Murphy told Afloat, "we were interested to see how we would compare with the larger J's (Valentina having won Cork Week and Class Zero at ICRA and the 122 Mojito leading in ISORA)"
Conditions were light, with winds up to ten knots from the northeast on Saturday and a stronger 300-degree wind in the late teens on Sunday.
