A crew of seven female sailors is set to circumnavigate the globe aboard the IDEC SPORT, a Maxi Trimaran. On September 16, in Paris, Alexia Barrier revealed her international team aiming to break the Jules Verne Trophy record.

The crew comprises six sailors from diverse nationalities, including Britons Dee Caffari and Deborah Blair, Dutchwoman Annemieke Bes, Swiss-New Zealander Rebecca Gmuer, Spaniard Tamara Echegoyen, and American Molly Lapointe. English will be the official language on board.

Barrier, the project's founder, emphasised the selection process. “We focused on versatility, seafaring skills, and a desire to learn and share experiences,” she stated.

Each team member brings unique expertise, with a blend of Olympic and offshore racing backgrounds. “These women have rich experiences both offshore and inshore,” Barrier added during the announcement.

The selection process was long, with 15 candidates surfacing before the final decisions were made. “It is essential that the crew embodies a constant spirit of kindness,” Barrier explained.
