French maxi trimaran Sodebo Ultim 3 is launching a new bid for the Jules Verne Trophy round‑the‑world record.

The crew’s single objective is to complete the non‑stop circumnavigation in less than 40 days, 23 hours and 30 minutes.

Skipper Thomas Coville is joined by Frédéric Denis, Pierre Leboucher, Léonard Legrand, Guillaume Pirouelle, Benjamin Schwartz and Nicolas Troussel.

To seize the record, Sodebo Ultim 3 must better the benchmark set by Idec Sport in 2017.

The team must cross the finish line off Ouessant before 25 January at 20:31:35 (French time) to claim the new time.

The Jules Verne Trophy honours the fastest crewed sailing circumnavigation of the globe, starting and finishing off the French coast.

Sodebo says fans can follow the record attempt and position reports via its official website at sodebo.com.
