The Annual Kish Race, sponsored by Leinster Boats and hosted by the Dun Laoghaire Motor Yacht Club, with the cooperation of Dublin Port Company, Dublin Bay Sailing Club and Dun Laoghaire Harbour, will take place on Sunday 29th September this year.
As in recent years, the race will start and finish at the DBSC’s Starters’ Hut on the West Pier. It will follow a course that keeps the fleet on the Dun Laoghaire side of the Bay to avoid any close encounters with commercial vessels accessing or egressing Dublin Port. In this respect, the current plan is to lay a mark to be left to port on the way to the Kish and to starboard on the way home.
The race will be run on ECHO Standard Handicaps, and two-handed entries will be facilitated, provided such entries are not normally raced by a two-person crew.
The Notice of Race (NoR), Sailing Instructions (SI), and entry forms (€40) are available on the DMYC website. Entrants are encouraged to enter as soon as possible, but before 19:00 on Saturday, September 28th, at which point entries will close. Late entries may be accommodated, but solely at the organisers' discretion.
The warning signal will be at 10:55 on Sunday morning, with an 11:00 start and a 17:00 time limit.
Should weather conditions dictate that a race to the Kish is not advised, alternative courses may be used.
