Irish maritime artist Pete Hogan will open his Sandymount studio, on the Dublin Bay shoreline, to the public on Thursday, 11 December 2025.

The event, titled Open Studio ’25, presents a new collection under the theme “Dublin in the Rare Auld Time”.

Hogan will host visitors at 153 Strand Road, Dublin 4, from 6 pm to 10 pm. Viewings will continue by appointment.

The artist said the evening will feature “paintings, drawings and sculpture”.

Hogan is well known to Afloat.ie readers for his sailing writing and illustrations, including depictions of Achill and Achillbeg.

A solo circumnavigator in the 1990s aboard his gaff ketch Molly B, he continues to combine maritime experience with visual art.

We've got a favour to ask

More people are reading Afloat.ie than ever thanks to the power of the internet but we're in stormy seas because advertising revenues across the media are falling fast. Unlike many news sites, we haven't put up a paywall because we want to keep our marine journalism open.

Afloat.ie is Ireland's only full-time marine journalism team and it takes time, money and hard work to produce our content.

So you can see why we need to ask for your help.

If everyone chipped in, we can enhance our coverage and our future would be more secure. You can help us through a small donation. Thank you.
