Entries for Wicklow's Round Ireland Race have reached 40 with 43 days remaining before the closing date.
The milestone was confirmed on April 16 with the addition of the largest yacht so far, the Clipper 68 CV9 – Courageous, entered by Clipper Events.
The 68-footer now becomes the biggest entry in the 700-mile offshore race, surpassing Venomous, the Carroll Marine 60 previously entered by Graeme Lewis.
CV9 Courageous is a 68-foot ocean racing yacht and part of the Clipper 68 fleet used for global circumnavigations.
The vessel is now chartered by Clipper Events for races such as the Round the Island Race in the UK.
Known for its performance in offshore conditions, the yacht is frequently chartered for competitive sailing campaigns.
As Afloat reported previously, the latest additions continue to strengthen the race’s international profile.
Teams from France, Italy and the UK are now confirmed in the high-performance offshore class.
This includes a growing fleet of five Class 40 yachts expected to compete in this year’s race.
