Wednesday 07:30hrs – The new Botin 56 Khumbu (Guy Gillon) is on track to finish the Round Ireland Race at Wicklow this morning, coming in from the northeast, and currently making 12 knots on track to the line with 23 miles to sail.
The new ebb tide is in her favour to lengthen her Line Honours victory, as the next two boats in line, the Class40s VSF Sports and Maccaferria Futura, are four miles west of Rathlin Island, and with the ebb there being a foul tide, are no longer seeing their speeds in double digits.

Despite Khumbu being a horizon-job plus as far as line honours are concerned, she is still lying third on the IRC Corrections, where Gery Trentesaux’s Courrier Pogo – just east of Inishtrahull ay 6.2 knots – continues to lead overall with a calculated one hour and forty minutes on Johnny Murphy’s J/109 Outrajeous, which in turn is shown with 53 minutes in hand on Khumbu, and is currently passing Tory Island at 6.5 knots.
IRC Overall Placings: 1st Courrier Pogo, 2nd Outrajeous, 3rd Khumbu, 4th Bellino, 5th The Big Picture, 6th Sunrise.
