Matt Allen and James Mayo have steered Master Lock Comanche to Line Honours in the 2025 Rolex Sydney Hobart Yacht Race.
The 80th edition of the Cruising Yacht Club of Australia’s 628‑nautical‑mile classic finished today at 18:03:36.
Master Lock Comanche completed the course in 2 days 5 hours 3 minutes 36 seconds. This was well behind her 2017 race record of 1 day 9 hours 15 minutes 24 seconds.
The 100‑footer spent much of the final day in a close duel with LawConnect and SHK Scallywag 100. At times, the three led the race in turn. The American yacht Lucky remained close behind.
At one point, little more than a mile separated the four leading yachts, which were in sight of each other for most of the day.
This afternoon, Master Lock Comanche pulled ahead to secure the lead. The pair of Allen and Mayo held on to take the honours.
The victory redeems Master Lock Comanche’s withdrawal from the 2024 race, when a torn mainsail forced her retirement early in the event.
More details, including further quotes, are expected later.
