A protest has been lodged against the current clubhouse leader in the Rolex Sydney Hobart Yacht Race.
The yacht Min River has protested BNC – my::NET / LEON for allegedly breaching Rule 55.3(a) of the Racing Rules of Sailing.
The rule in question prohibits sails from being sheeted over or through devices that exert outward pressure outside the hull or deck, with limited exceptions.
According to Australian Sailing, Rule 55.3(a) allows a headsail clew to be connected to a whisker pole, but only if a spinnaker is not in use.
The International Jury will hear the protest at 0900 AEDT on Wednesday, 31 December 2025, at the Royal Yacht Club of Tasmania in Hobart.
Race officials confirmed the protest had been formally submitted to the Race Committee for review.
The French-flagged BNC – my::NET / LEON, a JPK 10.80 skippered by Michel Quintin and Yann Rigal, currently leads in the Double Handed division and in overall standings.
The result of the jury hearing could significantly impact the final race outcome, including the awarding of the Tattersall Cup.
Further updates will follow after the jury's decision. A copy of the protest can be found here
