Footage of the mast breaking
Footage (below via Facebook) captures the Tuiga’s mast breaking amidst a squall in Menorca, during the Repsol King’s Cup, with no injuries reported.

In a dramatic incident during the Repsol King’s Cup for Vintage Boats, the classic sailboat Tuiga experienced a mast failure. The mishap occurred on the second day of the event in Mahón, Menorca, Spain.

Caught in a squall with winds exceeding 50 knots, the Tuiga was filmed at the moment the mast broke. The footage was provided by @karelklosse and posted on social media. Fortunately, there were no personal injuries reported.

The Tuiga, a notable piece of international naval heritage, serves as the flagship of the Yacht Club of Monaco. It was originally owned by the Duke of Medinaceli and is classified under the FI15 category. Other boats from the same era, including the Hispania, Mariska, and The Lady Anne, also faced damage during the storm.
