A Northern Ireland-based yacht broker has been banned from driving in the Republic after his Ferrari was clocked at nearly 200kmh in Donegal last year.

According to the Sunday World, GulfStream Boat Sales boss Niall Heaney was witnessed by gardaí on the main road between Derry and Letterkenny on 2 November last year, speeding at a whopping 193kmh in his Ferrari FF.

The numbers prompted Judge Alan Mitchell, at a sitting of Buncrana District Court last week, to ask: “Did he get to the sound barrier?”

Heaney’s brokerage is self-described as “Europe’s No.1 online boat dealer” with “the world’s most detailed boat listings”. The Ferrari FF he was driving is one of only 2,291 produced by the luxury sports car brand.

The Sunday World has much more on the story HERE.
