Chris Power Smith's Royal St. George Yacht Club crew on the J122 Aurelia demonstrated their ambitions for the Volvo Dun Laoghaire to Dingle Race next Wednesday by winning Saturday's blustery 80-mile ISORA Pwllheli to Dun Laoghaire Race.
According to the race tracker's provisional results, Andrew Hall's Lombard 46 Pata Negra was the line honours winner, but the J122 design proved unstoppable in the gusty north-westerly conditions, taking first and second overall on IRC rating.
Although the entry list for the third cross-channel race of the season was reduced, the 11-boat fleet was filled with competitors for the biennial 280-mile race to Europe's most westerly marina, offering the most accurate form guide to date.
Vicky Cox and Peter Dunlop's Pwllheli Sailing Club Mojito secured second overall on IRC and second in Class Zero.
Howth Yacht Club's Simon Knowles finished third in the J109 Indian and was also the IRC Two class winner.
The IRC One division was won by Ryan Wilson's Matt 1010, Elixir, with Alan Hannon's JPK 1030, Coquine, in second, and the A35 Pillaban in third.
This result solidifies Aurelia's position at the top of the 2025 Musto Offshore Championships after nine races sailed in the 2025 season.
Offshore racing now shifts its focus to Wednesday's season highlight, the 41-boat turnout for the 2025 Dun Laoghaire Dingle Race, as Afloat previews here.
