The Irish challenge was led by Royal St George Yacht Club's Aurelia as Andrew and Sam Hall's Pata Negra claimed overall victory in the latest MUSTO ISORA offshore race from Liverpool to Douglas.

The 55-nautical-mile crossing to the Isle of Man attracted a mixed fleet of Class 0, 1 and 2 entries. Results remain provisional.

Pata Negra, a Lombard 46 representing Pwllheli Sailing Club, delivered the standout performance of the race. The Welsh boat completed the course in an elapsed time of 10 hours 56 minutes 28 seconds and corrected to 12 hours 34 minutes 17 seconds.

The victory margin was significant. Pata Negra finished more than 22 minutes clear of its nearest rival on corrected time.

Second overall went to Aurelia, the J/122 campaigned by Chris and Patanne Power Smith of the Royal St George Yacht Club. The Dun Laoghaire entry sailed the course in 12 hours 1 minute 7 seconds and corrected to 12 hours 56 minutes 39 seconds.

Aurelia's result maintained a strong Irish presence near the top of the leaderboard despite facing larger and faster-rated opposition.

Third overall was Liverpool Yacht Club's Only Just. Skipper Neil Thomas guided the J/105 to an elapsed time of 13 hours 5 minutes, which corrected to 12 hours 59 minutes 30 seconds.

Only Just was the highest-placed Class 2 boat and missed second overall by less than three minutes after more than 12 hours of corrected racing.

Further down the order, Jezebel finished fourth overall and ReQuest of the National Yacht Club placed sixth.

The result means Class 0 boats filled the top two positions overall, while Only Just demonstrated the competitiveness of the lower-rated yachts under IRC.

With just 25 minutes separating the top three on corrected time, the Liverpool to Douglas race provided another closely fought contest in the 2026 MUSTO ISORA Championship.

As regular Afloat readers know, the planned race for Sunday from the Isle of Man to Dun Laoghaire was cancelled due to forecast.
