George Radley’s long-time and hard-campaigned IMP,’ from Cove SC and the RCYC, won the SCORA/KYC Kinsale to Baltimore Race on Saturday in both IRC and ECHO divisions, which is also a ‘feeder’ race to Calves Week being sailed in Schull until Monday.

James Donegan’s J109 ‘Jalapeno’ from Kinsale YC was second under both handicaps. Another J109, Chris Moore’s ‘Powder Monkey’ from the National YC, was third in both.

IMP, the Ron Holland-designed IOR 40, won the prize for the oldest yacht in June’s Round Ireland Race and has been described as “the blast from the past”. She was built in Florida in 1976.

The Baltimore race is a 'feeder' to Calves Week in Schull.

We've got a favour to ask

More people are reading Afloat.ie than ever thanks to the power of the internet but we're in stormy seas because advertising revenues across the media are falling fast. Unlike many news sites, we haven't put up a paywall because we want to keep our marine journalism open.

Afloat.ie is Ireland's only full-time marine journalism team and it takes time, money and hard work to produce our content.

So you can see why we need to ask for your help.

If everyone chipped in, we can enhance our coverage and our future would be more secure. You can help us through a small donation. Thank you.
