Lough Ree served up a thoroughly enjoyable weekend of sailing with wind, chop, gusts and lulls, showers, and sunshine to entertain the large 420 fleet assembled as part of the Double Ree festival of double-hander sailing.

After two very entertaining days of racing, Max Sweetman and Fionn Lynch (Waterford Harbour SC) took home the Leinster Trophy with two points to spare from Blessington/Malahide-based Cora McNaughton and Sean Cronin. Sean Lemonier and Killian Mathieu (Galway Bay SC) claimed third place.

Next on the 420 Calendar will be the 420 National Championships, as part of the Tri-Nationals, hosted by RCYC from 16-18 August 2024.

Coaching sessions are planned in preparation for GBSC and RCYC. This event will celebrate the 50th Anniversary of the 420 class, a milestone delayed by the COVID pandemic, and the fleet is encouraged to gather and celebrate this special occasion.
