Stig has claimed the 2025 Cape 31 Med Circuit title after one of the closest finishes in the class’s history.
Alessandro Rombelli’s team edged Pacific Yankee by a single point after five events across the Mediterranean.
The title was decided at the final round in Palma. Pacific Yankee won the event, but Stig’s seventh place was enough to secure the championship on 12 points. Pacific Yankee finished on 13, with Give Me Five third overall on 14.
Give Me Five also retained its Corinthian/One Pro title for a second year.
Twenty-three teams from 16 nations competed at Hyères, Porquerolles, San Remo, Imperia and Palma.
Shotgunn opened the season with a win in Hyères. In Porquerolles, the chartered MeerBlick, skippered by Nikolai Burkart, won on debut. Burkart has since bought his own boat and will race as an owner at the Europeans.
Stig found form in San Remo with a regatta win and extended their lead in Imperia before the showdown in Palma. Pacific Yankee won multiple races in the final event, but consistency across the circuit delivered Stig the overall crown.
“It’s been an incredible season of tight racing,” said Rombelli. “Every event came down to the last race, and we’re thrilled to come out on top against such a talented fleet.”
“This season showcased just how competitive and international the Cape 31 fleet has become,” said Cape 31 Med Circuit Manager Victoria Tomlinson Cheney. “We’ve seen new owners, charter teams and Corinthian crews all battling for race wins.”
Prizes will be awarded at the Cape 31 European Championship in Palma from October 16 to 19. As Afloat reported earlier, twenty-five boats from 13 nations are expected to compete at the RCNP-hosted regatta.
