The first Cape 26 has been launched in Cape Town, marking the debut of a new sportsboat designed by Cape Performance Solutions.

Named Ciao, Hull 01 takes inspiration from the successful Cape 31 while introducing several new design features aimed at competitive racing and ease of handling. The 26-footer has been designed for sit-in racing and features a backstay-less rig, a controllable bridle mainsheet system and a lifting keel positioned forward of the mast.

Sea trials generated strong early feedback, with the builders reporting an enthusiastic response from the testing programme.

Hull 01 is now being prepared for shipment to Italy, where the European agent, Negri Nautica, will market the class. Plans are also underway for a Mediterranean Cape 26 racing circuit in 2027, with further details expected to be announced in due course.
