Gordon Ingate, one of Australia's greatest sailors over a varied career afloat of nine decades, has died a few weeks after the world of sailing joined in celebrating his hundredth birthday.
Regular visitors to Afloat.ie will be well aware of his extraordinary achievements in racing nationally and internationally in a variety of boats, both inshore and offshore. In his most senior years, he was a regular Dragon sailor, and his most recent overall victory in the Australian Dragon Nationals was achieved at the age of 94 to round out an inspirational sailing life.
