The National Yacht Club's Shane MacCarthy, sailing with visiting English crew Richard Rigg, leads a breezy edition of the Flying Fifteen East Coast Championships on Dublin Bay.
With northeasterly winds gusting to 25 knots, the duo count a 3, 1,1 to be on five points and two points ahead of the recently crowned National Champions Niall O'Brien and Ronan O'Briain in Checkmate from the Conamara Flying 15 fleet who scored a 2,3,2.
Third is first race winners, Strangford Lough's Peter Kennedy and Stephen Kane on eight points.
Almost half of the 20-boat fleet did not compete in today's third race; such was the strength of Dublin Bay's wind and waves.
Racing continues on Sunday.
