Four Irish boats finished in the top ten of the 2024 GP14 World Championships at the Welsh National Sailing Academy in Plas Heli, Pwllheli in North Wales.
In a dominant display in the 85-boat fleet, Britain's Matt Mee and Chris Robinson of Red Warf Bay Sailing Club led from start to finish and clinched the title with a race to spare on 10 points from Fireball World Champions Tom Gillard and Andy Thompson (of East Antrim Boat Club in Northern Ireland) on 15 points.
After eight races sailed, Ger Owens and Melanie Morris of Wicklow SC and East Antrim Boat Club topped the 29-boat Irish team in fourth place on 36 points.
National champions Ross Kearney and Daniel Nelson from Royal North were next Irish in sixth place on 52.
Hugh Gill and Richard Street of Sutton Dinghy Club and Blessington SC were seventh.
Sean Craig and Stephen Boyle of the Royal St. George Yacht Club and Sutton Dinghy Club, who led Irish hopes all week, counted 31 and 24 on the last day to finish ninth.
