Royal St George Yacht Club sailor Roger Craig lies fourth in the ILCA 7 Master fleet at the 2026 ILCA Master European Championships in La Baule, France, less than a month after competing in the ILCA 7 Men’s World Championship on Dublin Bay.
Craig was one of six Irish sailors in the 141-boat Senior Worlds fleet in Dún Laoghaire in August, alongside Finn Lynch, Ewan McMahon, Fiachra McDonnell, Tom Coulter and Bobby Driscoll.
Now back in international competition at the Masters Europeans, Craig has made a strong start with scores of 2-9-6-13 from the opening four races.
With the discard applied, he lies fourth in the combined ILCA 7 Apprentice and Master fleet on 17 points.
Delap Scores Second
Fellow Irish sailor Hugh Delap is 12th in the same fleet, with his series including a second place in Race 2.
Craig's appearance in La Baule follows a demanding Senior Worlds campaign on Dublin Bay, where he progressed to the Bronze Fleet after the qualifying series.
King Ninth in ILCA 6 Grand Masters
There is also a four-strong Irish challenge in the ILCA 6 divisions.
Marshall King is ninth in the 48-boat Grand Master fleet after four races, counting scores of 9-10-8 after discarding his opening 13th.
Darren Griffin lies 12th and Niall Peelo 15th in the combined ILCA 6 Apprentice and Master fleet, while John Curran is 26th in the Grand Masters.
Four Races Completed at La Baule
All fleets have now completed four races after Tuesday's programme allowed organisers to catch up following lighter conditions on the opening day.
Racing began in 8-11 knots and flat water before the breeze eased to 5-9 knots later in the day. The ILCA 7 fleets, which had completed two races on Monday, added another two on Tuesday.
The championship continues in La Baule this week.
