The long-running Dognose Trophy added another chapter to its Cork Harbour history with the latest National 18 prizegiving honouring both present-day winners and the family links behind one of the fleet’s traditional trophies.
Becky Dwyer, daughter of the late Mike Dwyer, presented the trophy following racing centred on the famous Cork Harbour “Dognose” mark off Aghada.
The Dognose Trophy dates back to 1956 and has longstanding connections with the Dwyer family and Cork Harbour dinghy racing traditions.

This year’s winners were Colin Chapman, helm Harry Coole and Ed Rice.
The trophy remains a recognised fixture on the National 18 calendar and continues to draw strong support from Cork Harbour sailors.
Historically, the race was associated with passage-style harbour courses towards Aghada and the Number 5 “Dognose” buoy, from which the trophy takes its name.
The event is regarded as one of the enduring links between Cork Harbour’s sailing heritage and the modern National 18 fleet.
