Another cold winter's day... and another full morning with six races completed in the INSS Super Series January races at Dun Laoghaire Harbour.
RS Aero agent Kenny Rumball ran the show with the first race starting on time at 9.45... without the Aero series leaders, who were a bit slow to launch. Despite making it to the start before line closure, they were too far adrift to contend for the opening win of the day. It was a close battle between Paul Phelan and Roy Van Maanen. John eventually took line honours in his 7 rig and did enough to retain his first race win of the series after times were recalculated.
The second race started with a few tight battles at the front, but Thomas Chaix's superior speed downwind allowed him to pull clear of the pack and take the win ahead of Roy. Noel Butler's shaky start of the day was definitely gone by race 3, and he put pressure on the fleet. It was Thomas' turn to make costly mistakes, earning him penalty spins. Noel won the remaining 4 races of the morning, with Roy taking another 2nd, Thomas taking 2, and Neil Colin the remaining one.
Overall, NYC Noel Butler is taking a solid lead, having discarded his mishaps. Thomas Chaix remained 2nd, 7 points adrift, but kept a solid margin on Roy Van Maanen.
Three Neo completed the 6 races. Eamonn Doyle dropped a few races, with John McGregor taking three wins on the day. Eamonn remains a very strong leader with a 34 points margin on 2nd.
The next races will be sailed on Saturday, February 8th.
