World Champions Expected at RS Feva Irish National Championship at Ballyholme

After the intense week of ILCA 6 European Championship racing at Ballyholme on Belfast Lough recently, the Club will find hosting the RS Feva Irish National Championship next weekend (15th, 16th and 17th) a somewhat easier but important task.

The closing date for entries is midnight on Thursday 15th August. Although this is a youth event, Parent/Child teams are very welcome. The warning signal is for Friday, 16th August, at 12:55 for the Nationals on Saturday, 17th August at 11:55, and for Sunday, 18th August at 10:55.

Word has it that the RS Feva World Champions, Ben Greenhalgh and Tom Sinfield, will travel to the event. The pair are double World Champions and joint winners of the Yachting Journalist Association (YJA) Young Sailor of the Year Award 2023. Ben's father, Simon, sailed Cadets at Ballyholme, so there is a special connection with Bangor.

Local sailors expected to enter are Emily and Annabel Ridout (BYC), Matthew and Peter Ridout (BYC) and Jakob Ozarek and Abbie Stocking from East Down YC on Strangford Lough. All recently performed well at the RS Feva World Championship in The Netherlands.
