While the Ruffian 23 Volvo Dun Laoghaire Regatta turnout was a comparatively small one compared to recent Clew Bay exploits, it was still a competitive one with June's WIORA winner, Bandit (Brian Cullen and Ann Kirwan) of the National Yacht Club, winning overall but only by a point.

The Bandit crew finished on eight points (2,1, 1,, 3, 2, 2) after six races sailed to beat Dun Laoghaire Motor Yacht Club's Ripples, skippered by Frank Bradley, in a modest five-boat fleet.

Third was Bradley's clubmate, Brendan Duffy in Scéal Eile on 11.

The fleet enjoyed more champagne conditions for the final races on the Salthill course.

Speaking on the conclusion of the regatta, VDLR event chairman Don O’Dowd said: “We’ve had four days of stunning conditions and unforgettable racing. The sight of hundreds of boats out on the bay under blue skies, along with the ceremonial start and wide public participation, has made this a truly special 10th edition.

“We’re incredibly grateful to the sailors, the volunteers and the entire Dun Laoghaire community for their support.”
