Murphy's 'Nieulargo' is the IRC 1 Winner of Cove Sailing Club's 2024 Cobh to Blackrock Race

Cove Sailing Club's annual Cobh to Blackrock yacht race was sailed in blustery conditions in Cork Harbour on Saturday, September 14th.

Although a dinghy division was confirmed for this year's race, 30-knot gusts put paid to the organisers' centreboard plans.

In IRC 1, the Murphy family's Nieulargo won in a corrected time of 47 minutes and 55 seconds from Deirdre and Paul Tingle's X4 Alpaca 0:50:04 corr. Third was Ria Lyden's on 0:52:22 corr. The results were repeated on ECHO handicap.

In IRC 2, Michael McCann's Etchell's Don't Dilly Dally won in a corrected time of 46 minutes and 56 seconds from Ian Hickey's Granada 38 Cavatina 0:54:32 corrected. Third was Sean Hanley's HB31 Luas in a corrected time of 0:52:20. The results were repeated on ECHO handicap.

In IRC Three, Peter O'Leary's Star keelboat boat won in a corrected time of 43 minutes and 08 seconds.
