Strong north-east winds have again forced the cancellation of Dublin Bay Sailing Club (DBSC) racing this week.
Thursday evening’s Red and Blue fleet cruiser races were abandoned before boats left Dún Laoghaire Harbour, as wind speeds approached 30mph in choppy conditions on Dublin Bay.
Blue fleet race officer Larry Power and Red fleet race officer John McNeilly made the decision ahead of racing in what is regarded as the country’s biggest yacht racing league.
The latest cancellations follow the abandonment earlier this week of DBSC Tuesday dinghy racing and Wednesday’s Water Wag programme due to strong wind forecasts.
Fresh and gusty north-easterly conditions have dominated the opening weeks of the 2026 DBSC summer season.
