The countdown is on for one of the most anticipated fixtures of the Dublin Bay sailing summer — the Lambay Races, taking place over two action-packed days of the June Bank Holiday Weekend on Saturday 31 May and Sunday 1 June, at Howth Yacht Club.

First staged in 1904, the Lambay Races have long held a special place in the Irish sailing calendar. Unique in their format, they offer keelboats of all types a taste of the offshore racing experience — a rare and thrilling opportunity for crews of all levels. Whether you're a seasoned competitor or a first-time racer, this is your chance to be part of a spirited tradition.

This year's edition, proudly supported by Fingal County Council, Kinetica Sports, and Lambay Whiskey, promises a vibrant blend of tradition and celebration. Saturday racing will start the action and follow the traditional Lambay Island course. A full race program follows on Sunday, June 1st, with windward-leeward racing for Classes 0/1/2/3 and sports boats and round-the-cans racing for White Sails.

This return to a two-day regatta has been warmly welcomed by all who relish the combination of thrilling races, après sail festivities, and Howth Yacht Club's renowned hospitality. It has already sparked strong interest from the burgeoning Sports Boats Fleet, promising a spectacular weekend of competitive sailing over the June bank holiday.

And the excitement doesn't stop on the water. Onshore, the club will come alive on Saturday with a live DJ to start the party, followed by an electric performance from Jaker Band, widely renowned for their high-energy live sets.

Event Chairman Phil Merry shared that Howth expects to welcome 100 boats to the Lambay Races. Entries are closing on Friday, May 23.

Howth Yacht Club is the largest members sailing club in Ireland, with over 1,700 members. The club welcomes inquiries about membership - see top of this page for contact details.

Howth Yacht Club (HYC) is 125 years old. It operates from its award-winning building overlooking Howth Harbour that houses office, bar, dining, and changing facilities. Apart from the Clubhouse, HYC has a 250-berth marina, two cranes and a boat storage area. In addition. its moorings in the harbour are serviced by launch.

Howth Yacht Club originated as Howth Sailing Club in 1895. In 1968 Howth Sailing Club combined with Howth Motor Yacht Club, which had operated from the West Pier since 1935, to form Howth Yacht Club. The new clubhouse was opened in 1987 with further extensions carried out and more planned for the future including dredging and expanded marina facilities.

HYC caters for sailors of all ages and run sailing courses throughout the year as part of being an Irish Sailing accredited training facility with its own sailing school.

The club has a fully serviced marina with berthing for 250 yachts and HYC is delighted to be able to welcome visitors to this famous and scenic area of Dublin.
