Kinsale Yacht Club held its annual general meeting on 11 December, with strong member attendance.

Outgoing Commodore Tony Scannell formally handed over the role to Anthony O’Neill.

Scannell’s term included major events such as the Dragon Gold Cup and the Sovereigns Cup, both highlighted during the meeting.

Incoming Commodore Anthony O’Neill said he is looking ahead to an active programme, supported by Vice-Commodore Tomás O’Brien.

Members paid tribute to Patrick Beckett, who stepped down after ten years as Honorary Treasurer.

Thanks were also given to Sue Horgan, who concluded 15 years on the management committee, including service as Rear Commodore (House) and organiser of club social events.

Scannell nominated Chris Clarke for Honorary Life Membership in recognition of long service.

The nomination cited Clarke’s role in mark laying at major club events over many years.

The club’s full-time secretariat, steward and marina manager are there to look after sailing visitors and members alike in a relaxed, informal and fun environment.

The club welcomes new members and has always got room on its members’ yachts for new comers to the sport.
