Two 505s finished second and third in the opening race of Monkstown Bay Sailing Club's August League in Cork Harbour. The race was won by Shane O'Connell in a Laser 7. Brian Jones and Gary Frost were second in a 505 and Charles McCarthy and Barry O'Connor third in another 505.

Class Two winner was Olin Bateman's RZ Feva XL.

A Northerly breeze made for good sailing conditions for three rounds of the course for the bigger, faster Class One dinghies and two rounds for Class Two.

The club's veteran Laser sailor, David O'Connell, won Class One of the July League over eight races. Sailing his Laser 7, he won three of the league races and was second in another two, finishing overall on 18 points,

Second-placed as Laser II crew, Judy Moynihan, a longtime Monkstown sailor, helming with crew Therese Loesberg. The duo finished with 30 points. Another Laser 7 sailor, Kyle Joyce, was third overall, on 53 points.

Lasers dominated the series, filling the top 8 places.

The Class Two League was won by the Mirror crew of Tim and Philip O'Connor who won five of the 8 races. Second were Ruby Duggan and Isabelle McCarthy in an RS Feva XL. Isobelle O'Connor, sailing an Optimist, was third.
