The 360-mile Dubai Muscat race of three weeks ago may have had much of its course through what is now a war zone. Yet it seemed far from the storms of war (or any storms) as the crew of the Ronan Considine-chartered Mumm 30 Nagini - mostly from Galway Bay SC, and all from Connacht - struggled to keep going in the lightest of breezes.
We're told it was Ruairic O Tuairisg of a traditional Galway sailing family who showed the greatest skill at the helm in maintaining momentum, but it was a team effort that won overall in IRC.
They were Tom Murphy (GBSC), Ruairc O Tuairisg (GBSC), Ronan Considine(GBSC), Aodhan FitzGerald (GBSC) and Louis Molloy (Mayo SC).
