Liam Jegou and Noel Hendrick failed to make the quarter-finals in the Olympic kayak cross event, as RTÉ News reports.

Both advanced from repechage in the event, which pits three to four kayakers against each other in the same race, but placed out of contention in the final heats on Sunday (4 August) — as did Irish-American paddler Madison Corcoran in the women’s event.

“I think I did really well there, I was in the game until the end,” Jegou told RTÉ Sport, but Hendrick admitted: “I think I’m a bit small for it and I find it hard to compete with some of the toughest guys out there.”
