The European Championships of Waveski and Surf Kayak will debut in Ireland from September 5th to 9th, 2025. The event takes place in Easky, Co. Sligo, known for its impressive surf breaks.

This championship is sanctioned by the World Waveski Surfing Association (WWSA) and the World Surf Kayak Association (WSKA). It marks a significant moment for athletes aiming for international rankings and qualification for the 2026 World Waveski Surfing Titles.

“With up to 150 competitors, Easky will showcase top talent,” said a WWSA spokesperson. The competition will include Open Men’s and Women’s divisions in Waveski, High-Performance (HP), and International Class (IC) categories, along with an Adaptive Waveski section.

Canoeing Ireland, a key supporter of paddle sports, notes the importance of this event for local athletes. “It’s a chance for our competitors to shine on an international stage,” said a representative.

The championships promise to highlight Ireland’s surf culture and reinforce its reputation as a premier watersports destination.
