An Olympic kitesurfer who’s a doctor by day came to the rescue of a drowning woman off northern Brazil — and captured the entire incident on camera.
Paris 2024 competitor Bruno Lobo, who works as a knee surgeon, was on the waters off Sao Luis testing a new camera to capture his kiteboarding last Friday evening (10 January) when he heard a cry for help nearby.
Dr Lobo leapt into action and turned his kiteboard in the direction of the casualty, who quickly grasped onto his back as he swam the pair to safety.
All the while, his kite-mounted camera was recording every moment, which he later shared on social media.
Speaking later about the rescue, Dr Lobo said he was merely “in the right place at the right time”. Sailing.org has more on the story HERE.
