Ireland's New Double Fifth at Rowing World Cup in Munich

Ireland’s new crew of Sanita Puspure and Lisa Dilleen finished fifth in the A Final of the women’s double sculls at the Rowing World Cup in Munich. The race was won impressively by Britain’s Katherine Grainger and Melanie Wilson, with the United States and Belarus taking the silver and bronze. Ireland and Romania disputed fourth down the course but the Romanian crew finished better.

Lightweight Double Scull – B Final (Places 7 to 12): 1 China 6:24.34, 2 Portugal 6:25.56, 3 Czech Republic 6:26.79, 4 Austria One 6:28.55, 5 Serbia 6:28.99, 6 Ireland (M O’Donovan, N Kenny) 6:34.05.

Women

Women’s Double Scull – A Final: 1 Britain 6:57.52, 2 United States 7:00.26, 3 Belarus 7:03.35, 4 Romania 7:09.25, 5 Ireland (L Dilleen, S Puspure) 7:11.10, 6 Austria 7:19.07.

Lightweight Double Scull – B Final (Places 7 to 12): 1 France 7:06.81, 2 Belgium 7:08.95, 3 Austria One 7:09.95. Ireland did not start
