Drogheda Port Company has launched a beehive conservation project at its Harbourville headquarters. This initiative highlights the company’s commitment to biodiversity and sustainable growth.
The hives are registered with the Native Irish Honey-Bee Society and will be managed by local beekeeper Gerry Clinton of Sunhill Honey. Clinton, an experienced beekeeper, has tended to bees on the site for several years.

The project aims to support Ireland’s native honeybee, Apis mellifera mellifera. It enhances pollinator habitats along the coast and produces seasonal harvests of natural honey.
“We are proud to launch this project as part of our ongoing commitment to sustainability and biodiversity,” said Paul Fleming, CEO of Drogheda Port Company. He added that supporting native pollinators is crucial for protecting the environment.
This initiative is part of Drogheda Port's broader corporate social responsibility strategy, which aligns with the All-Ireland Pollinator Plan. It demonstrates how ports can operate sustainably while improving their natural surroundings.
