A new drive-on RIB dock has been installed in Dún Laoghaire Harbour's Inner Harbour area.
The project, led by Dún Laoghaire-Rathdown County Council and co-funded by the Department of Agriculture, Food & Marine, introduces a specialist pontoon system designed for rigid inflatable boats (RIBs).
The drive-on, drive-off feature offers quicker and safer mooring, while freeing up valuable water space for other users, including kayaks, SUPs and dinghies at Ireland's biggest boating centre.
“This type of infrastructure supports safer and more efficient boat handling,” said a spokesperson for DLRCC.

The modular dock can be moved as a single unit, allowing entire groups of boats to be relocated together — a feature expected to support future changes under the harbour’s draft masterplan.
Environmental gains are also a focus. By keeping dive boats out of the water when not in use, the system significantly reduces the need for anti-foul paints and lowers zinc pollution caused by electrolysis.
Dive operators are expected to benefit from extended seasons, reduced maintenance costs, and lower environmental impact.
The dock was installed by Dun Laoghaire's Marine Services team, led by Kenny Rumball.
