A new €15 million funding round is now open for coastal communities seeking support for local projects under the Fisheries Local Action Groups (FLAG) initiative.
Bord Iascaigh Mhara (BIM), Ireland’s Seafood Development Agency, is running a nationwide series of workshops this November and December to guide applicants through the FLAG funding process.
The funding aims to boost sustainable development in coastal areas, supporting initiatives in tourism, marine infrastructure, seafood innovation, and community enterprise.
Workshops are being held in locations across the country, including Oranmore, Julianstown, Rosscarbery, Letterkenny, Ballina, Dunmore East, and Tralee.
“FLAG funding empowers local communities to take charge of their maritime future,” BIM said in a statement.
Each session will run from 10:30am to 2:00pm and will offer attendees direct support on application procedures, eligibility criteria, and project development.
The funding is co-financed by the Government of Ireland and the European Union under the European Maritime and Fisheries Fund.
