The AGM of the European Association of Fish Producers Organisations (EAPO) highlighted the need for workable solutions. "Robust controls are essential for sustainability and food security," EAPO officials stated. However, they cautioned that excessive red tape could hinder compliance and confidence within the sector.

Irish fishing leaders voiced specific frustrations with current regulations. According to them, existing control measures are already discouraging landings into Irish ports. “We are facing an impractical control regime,” said a representative from the Irish Fish Producers Organisation.
