RTÉ News reports that two people were rescued from a passenger boat that got into difficulty near the Skelligs on Sunday morning (7 July).
It’s understood that the two were crew on the vessel that subsequently sank a few miles out of Skellig Michael (Sceilg Mhichíl).
It’s not yet known what was the cause of the boat’s distress but weather conditions at the time are understood to have been good.
Skellig Michael, which opened for visitors for the 2024 season in mid-May, is one of only two UNESCO world heritage sites in the Republic of Ireland.
