The Mayo island of Inishturk has had its “boil water” notice lifted with immediate effect.
As Afloat reported last month, the notice was issued for the island’s public water supply in early September.
Uisce Éireann said the notice was put in place to protect the health of customers following mechanical and treatment process issues at the local water treatment plant.
“Drinking water experts from Uisce Éireann worked to lift the notice as quickly and safely as possible and following satisfactory water samples, the “boil water” notice has been lifted,” it said.
It acknowledged the impact of the notice on customers and thanked the island community for their support while the notice was in place.
Uisce Éireann’s Customer Contact Centre, open 24/7 is on freephone 1800 278 278, and is available to answer queries in relation to the lifting of the notice, it said.
