The communities of Clare Island and Inishturk have launched their own plan for how tourists should enjoy visiting the islands.
The pilot programme is supported by Fáilte Ireland as part of the implementation of the Clew Bay Destination Experience Development Plan, to strengthen and promote sustainable tourism.
'Atlantic Island Escapes' is a two-night all-inclusive adventure designed by locals and crafted to showcase the very best of island life, food, culture and heritage. Three September packages offer the opportunity to experience the authentic spirit of the islands – including lobster fishing, swimming, tours of Grace O'Malley's Castle, private whiskey tastings, artisan weaving sessions and dining, all led by the people who call these islands home.

"Not just a trip, an experience curated by islanders who want visitors to feel like part of the community and take away something deeper than just photos," says Anna Deegan, Island Tour Agent Co-ordinator. "Meals, activities, ferry transport and accommodation all included, the package offers incredible value and direct support for the island economies."
