Isle of Man Third Best in 'UK Islands' Category - Condé Nast 2025 Awards

10th October 2025
The Isle of Man takes third place among Conde Nast Traveller readers' list of the best islands in the UK. Above, the 11th-century St. Patrick’s Isle, Peel, built by the Vikings, was also once home to Christian missionaries, warriors, and kings. The impressive fortress dominating the Isle, which was a royal residence, centre of government, and military stronghold, stands on the island’s southwest coastline.

This year’s Condé Nast Traveller 2025 Readers’ Choice Awards has named the Isle of Man the third-best island in the UK.

In the English Channel, Guernsey took second place, and off Cornwall, the Isles of Scilly, as Afloat reported, have taken the top spot.

The largest island in the Irish Sea has beaten the likes of the Isle of Wight, Jersey, and islands in Scotland, among them Arran, and has climbed from 8th place last year.

The publication is one of the world's leading luxury and lifestyle travel publications and was established in 1987.

Visit Isle of Man’s chief executive, Deborah Heather (see cruise story), is calling the accolade 'a remarkable achievement and a true reflection of the Island’s growing appeal.'

We've got a favour to ask

More people are reading Afloat.ie than ever thanks to the power of the internet but we're in stormy seas because advertising revenues across the media are falling fast. Unlike many news sites, we haven't put up a paywall because we want to keep our marine journalism open.

Afloat.ie is Ireland's only full-time marine journalism team and it takes time, money and hard work to produce our content.

So you can see why we need to ask for your help.

If everyone chipped in, we can enhance our coverage and our future would be more secure. You can help us through a small donation. Thank you.
