In four months time the European Sea Ports Organisation (ESPO) is gathering in Bremen,Germany for the 19th edition of its annual Conference during 1-2 June.

The conference is the annual highlight of the European port industry and community as ESPO represents port authorities, associations and administrations of the seaports of 22 Member States of the European Union and Norway at EU political level.

ESPO also has observer members in Albania, Iceland, Israel, Montenegro, Ukraine and the United Kingdom.

Together with our host, Bremenports, we are currently putting all our efforts in presenting you also this year an exciting programme which aims at combining broadening-the-lens sessions with hands-on debates.

We are progressing well and hope to go online with a first programme in the first days of March.

However, we cannot wait to tell you something more about the spectacular venue of this year’s Conference. We will be welcoming guests in the magnificent heritage-listed Parkhotel, situated in in the centre of Bürgerpark, the green lung of Bremen.

The luxurious Parkhotel has shaped Bremen’s skyline from as far back as 1872. It started first as the ‘Parkhaus’ restaurant for day-trippers. It then became the grand hotel in 1956 and has become one of the symbols of Bremen.

Situated In the Bürgerpark, Bremen’s citizen park, the Parkhotel will give all delegates plenty of opportunity to enjoy some fresh air in the beautiful gardens and for the sporty ones to go for a run before or after.

So, also this year, the ESPO Conference will be so much more than a conference.

If you want to be part of this unique event, pencil already 1 and 2 June in your agendas. More details and registrations will follow soon.

We've got a favour to ask

More people are reading Afloat.ie than ever thanks to the power of the internet but we're in stormy seas because advertising revenues across the media are falling fast. Unlike many news sites, we haven't put up a paywall because we want to keep our marine journalism open.

Afloat.ie is Ireland's only full-time marine journalism team and it takes time, money and hard work to produce our content.

So you can see why we need to ask for your help.

If everyone chipped in, we can enhance our coverage and our future would be more secure. You can help us through a small donation. Thank you.
