Boluda Towage has won "Innovation Company of the Year 2026" at the International Tug & Salvage Community—ITS Awards, which recently took place in the Swedish port city of Gothenburg.

The award recognizes the rollout of the company’s Total Energy Optimization Systems (TEOS), including the integration of shaft generators on all newly built tugs from 2025 onwards.

An innovation that strengthens Boluda Towage’s long-term #decarbonization roadmap and sets a new benchmark for energy-efficient port operations.

Antonio Bordils, CEO of Boluda Corporación Marítima, expressed his gratitude to “all professionals, colleagues, suppliers, and stakeholders who made this recognition possible." This award is especially dedicated to the exceptional team that drives Boluda Towage forward every day.”

It was a proud moment for the Buloda Towage and a powerful motivation to continue shaping a more efficient, sustainable, and innovative future for the industry.

Boluda Towage is the world's leading maritime towage operator, with a presence on all five continents, in more than 232 ports across Europe (including the UK-based SMS Towage acquired in May 2024 with operations among them in Belfast Harbour), Africa, Asia, Oceania, and Latin America, and with a fleet of more than 850 vessels and a workforce of over 10,000 professionals.

We've got a favour to ask

More people are reading Afloat.ie than ever thanks to the power of the internet but we're in stormy seas because advertising revenues across the media are falling fast. Unlike many news sites, we haven't put up a paywall because we want to keep our marine journalism open.

Afloat.ie is Ireland's only full-time marine journalism team and it takes time, money and hard work to produce our content.

So you can see why we need to ask for your help.

If everyone chipped in, we can enhance our coverage and our future would be more secure. You can help us through a small donation. Thank you.
